Zelda: Breath of the Wild Fireblight Ganon is the boss of the Vah Rudiana Dungeon, and must be defeated to reclaim one of the Divine Beasts.
How to reach the Fireblight Ganon boss fight
With five terminals that have been activated in the Vah Rudiana Dungeon, you can reach the Main Control Unit outside behind Beast.
If you forget how to get up there, go to the two blue torches where you first entered the dungeon, make sure the Beast is flat, turn the room around, and go up to the extended sloping platform are outside. Turn the Beast so that it’s flat, then climb the wall and along the back to the middle, where the Terminal is.
How to defeat the Fireblight boss Ganon
In the first phase, Fireblight Ganon will launch at you with a big, strong – but slow attack.
A direct attack can kill you directly if you have a low amount of blood, so the plan is to get close so he can’t hit you quickly, and then step back when he prepares an attack and go crazy with his swipe.
Keep your shield raised every time you don’t attack if he attacks you, and when he glides into the air, lock (or face him) and keep your shield raised to avoid projectiles. This is a relatively simple phrase, but you have to be careful because of only one swipe, and you will get killed.
How to defeat Fireblight Ganon in the second phase of the battle
The second phase sees him sliding into the air and creating a giant fireball around him. After a few moments, he will launch a massive fireball at you, which explodes with a large radius when colliding. If you can, shoot the arrow as he leaves, or hide behind a central pillar or control unit and maintain a reasonable distance to avoid an explosion.
To deal with damage here, when he sucks air before the fireball, throw a Bomb rune and blow it up while spinning. He will then fall to the ground. Now is the right time to deal with easy damage, so run fast and launch a few attacks.
He can do this again in the next phase – launching into the air and launching fireballs – but all you need to do is destroy the fireballs or take cover (no need to throw bombs) before he returns to the ground.
How to defeat Fireblight Ganon in the third phase of the battle
The third phase is similar to the opening, but with a stronger flame sword which can cause the ground to burn behind him. The same tactic applies – the shield is ready at any time, keep moving, and try to get behind him and attack after he launches a few swipes.
The flame that is left behind can create a gust of wind, where if you want, you can glide up to avoid damage, or draw your bow for a headshot (which, on the ground is also possible if you’re going to disturb it quickly). There will also be a laser strike, and if this happens, run as fast as you can get out of the way.
After the boss fight
When the battle is over, you will be given a Heart Container – make sure you take it before you leave, or it might disappear forever! – and a cutscene where you will receive Daruk’s Protection.
This is a new ability that, as long as you hold your ZL (block) will defend against all types of attacks and is useful to give you an additional layer of security when exploring and battling forward. You get three fees, all of which require in-game time to be refilled.
After the cutscene, you will arrive back in front of the City of Goron. Chat with Yubono as you walk, then proceed to the head, Yubono, who will tell you that the search for Vah Rudiana is complete.
He also asks you to check the hut behind him for a weapon, 60 Strength Boulder Breaker. If you talk to him again, he will explain if the weapon is broken. You can always go back and visit Rohan, the Blacksmith, to help repair it.
