Falcom’s Ys IX: Monstrum Nox is out now for Nintendo Switch and PC, having launched earlier this year for PS4 (and receiving an update for PS5). The story sees Adol venture into the prison city of Balduq and mingles with strange beings known as the Monstrum. Find the launch trailer below.
Even for those who have finished the game on PS4, it might be worth checking out the PC version. PH3 Games did the porting work with CTO Peter “Durante” Thoman, who analyzed its characteristics. There is full support for mouse and keyboard controls with options for double-link each action. While the console version was designed to run at 60 FPS, the PC version can support up to 144 FPS.
Support for ultrawide aspect ratio monitors is also included along with up to 8K resolution, an option to adjust camera FOV, subsampling and super-sampling, filter and shadow resolution options, post-processing, and HBAO + ambient occlusion. There are also color blind filters.
