Outriders is the newest game that does not allow players to pause while in single-player mode. A typical situation familiar to players in the genres of Souls-like, action-RPG, and, in fact, any service game that is not Warframe. But the point is, there is a loophole whereby you can actually pause Outriders when playing alone. As one Redditor discovered, you need to have access to Nvidia Ansel.
Owners of Nvidia GPUs will be familiar with GeForce Experience, the software that downloads driver updates. It also has a photo mode called Ansel, which you can enter in supported games by pressing Alt + F2. Outriders is one such supported game, and when you feel like pausing the game, you can use it to finally go to the bathroom, open the door, release the dog, pay attention to your loved ones, or whatever.
Outriders is the latest game to remind us how much single-player online games suck. Frequent disconnects are a serious problem, but the lack of a pause button is annoying, too, given that this game lacks safe zones. The fact that Outriders may well be paused, but only if you have a certain video card brand, is a little depressing. Those who own AMD get stronger.
