Virtua Fighter gets a brand new remake that returns the classic fighter after years of absence. The game will be released next week.
Sega has announced that Virtua Fighter 5 Ultimate Showdown will become a PlayStation 4 exclusive. The remake is provided with new graphics and adds new online features. The team working on the new release is an “all-star team” from Sega AM2 and Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio [RGG]. The remake is being developed as part of Sega’s 60th anniversary.
First released in 1993 in arcade halls, Virtua Fighter pioneered the world of 3D fighting games. Virtua Fighter 5 first released in arcade halls in 2006, followed by the game in 2007 on PS3 and Xbox 360.
Gameplay and combat will be the same in the remake, but the graphics have been recreated from the ground up in the Dragon Engine. Each stage will have new background music, a new user interface, a new cinematic opening, and new lighting and shaders.
In addition to these innovations, players also get the opportunity to fight against each other online, and there are built-in round-robin online tournaments. It will also be possible to join private and open lobbies. A maximum of sixteen players can enter it at the same time.
Virtua Fighter 5 Ultimate Showdown will be released on June 1, 2021, for PlayStation 4.
