Virtua Fighter 5: Ultimate Showdown has exceeded all Sega expectations.
The new edition of the fighting game, which was released on June 1 on PlayStation 4, aimed to assess the public’s interest in the franchise before the possibility of an eventual Virtua Fighter 6, and not so much to generate income. However, the results have been much higher than what was expected internally in the Japanese company.
This situation, which has been made public by producer Seiji Aoki in a broadcast of Dengeki Online, also makes Sega’s options to develop the sixth installment of Virtua Fighter notably grow. Right now, there is nothing official, but after the good results reaped by Virtua Fighter 5: Ultimate Showdown, Aoki believes that there is a much better chance that the project will receive the green light.
