Valve has explained that high temperatures can affect the performance of the Steam Deck. He even points out that the portable console can turn off if it detects temperatures too high.
However, before this point is reached, gaming performance will be affected, and a warning will be issued indicating that the device needs to cool down.
“For our friends who are in the middle of a heat wave, we have to make a quick note about the Steam Deck and the high temperatures,” Valve explained on his Twitter account. “The Steam Deck performs best in ambient temperatures between zero and 35 degrees. If the temperature exceeds this, the Steam Deck may begin to throttle back to protect itself.”
Last week, Nintendo gave a similar warning about the Nintendo Switch, which is also designed for temperatures below 35°C.
