Blockchain technology is getting louder and louder. On the one hand, thanks to the cryptocurrencies based on it, and on the other, thanks to NFT tokens. For several years, games based on these solutions have been created, allowing you to earn money by playing or buying virtual deeds of digital items ownership. Not everyone is optimistic about the topic – such as Valve has issued a ban on publishing blockchain-based games on their Steam. This ban applies to both current and future productions. What does Ubisoft say?
Ubisoft, in turn, informs that it sees the future in blockchain technology, which is why it intends not only to invest in it but also to create games related to this solution. The company will provide games in which you can earn or buy NFT tokens. Details have not been released now, but Ubisoft has been planning to enter the blockchain for a long time, and now they have only officially announced their intentions.
If their games don’t appear on Steam, where will they find their place? On Epic Games Store, it was announced that that platform is open to blockchain and NFT-related games. What will come of this? Time will tell, Ubisoft has not presented anything at the moment, so it is unknown how they will implement this technology in their future games and what form it will all take.
