Ubisoft will be one of the 250 studios at Gamescom 2022, the Cologne fair scheduled for the end of August online and in person. Most of the big video game companies – including Sony, Nintendo, and Microsoft – preferred to participate in the Summer Game Fest or organize their events in June, while the French studio did the exact opposite, skipping the first event and confirming its presence only for the latter when there will be less competition. In fact, among the big publishers, the only ones who confirmed their participation in the August event are Bandai Namco, Koch Media, and Ubisoft itself.
Gamescom 2022 will kick off on 23 August with Geoff Keighley’s pre-show and will officially begin the following day, ending on 28 August. Ubisoft has not yet revealed when it will hold its mini showcase. Still, we expect the studio to show some of its biggest projects by the end of the fiscal year, namely Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope, and Skull & Bones. We know that there will almost certainly be no Assassin’s Creed, as the studio has announced a special event scheduled for September, while there may be room for Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Frontline, XDefiant, or Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake.
Ubisoft is also working on several mysterious projects. We know that the studio is producing a new Star Wars video game and that one of the teams is working on Project Q, an Overwatch-like shooter. In addition, there is also Beyond Good & Evil 2, which has now completely disappeared from the radar after almost nine years of development. In short, there is a lot of meat in the fire, so we have to wait for the event to find out what the French studio will show us.
