Ubisoft has unveiled the next game set in the Tom Clancy universe: XDefiant, a 6-vs-6 shooter distributed in free-to-play format and will see factions from the entire universe created by Tom Clancy. Developed by Ubisoft San Francisco, the project is led by executive producer Mark Rubin and creative director Jason Schroeder.
In today’s reveal trailer, we took a look at some of the features behind the competitive first-person shooter, including a series of maps, characters, and abilities that will arrive in the final version.
One of the most interesting is certainly the possibility of customizing the style of play, thanks to which players will initially be able to select a faction among the groups of the Tom Clancy universe such as Wolves ( Ghost Recon ), Echelon ( Splinter Cell ), Forsaken and Purifiers ( The Division ) and others, with additional factions planned as post-launch content, each of which will be equipped with unique abilities.
Along with factions, players will fully customize the character loadout by choosing primary and secondary weapons, accessories, and more, with various weapons that won’t be limited to the chosen faction. These loadouts can also be changed on the run during combat each time you return to play following a kill.
XDefiant will include several game modes, including Domination and Escort missions, to be played on various maps.
XDefiant is coming to PC, PlayStation 4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X / S, Google Stadia, Amazon Luna, and Ubisoft Connect, with a beta scheduled for August 5th exclusively on PC. If you are interested in trying Ubisoft’s new game, you can sign up for the beta here.
