Nowadays, social media companies like Facebook and Twitter have their way of preventing the spread of fake news or hoaxes by users of their social media services.
Twitter itself has recently changed its policy for users who want to retweet an article link on their platform.
Yes, now users must be required to read or at least open the link of the article they want to share first. It aims to make users aware of what they want to share with their account.
This feature is currently available on the Android platform and will be rolled out to other platforms soon.
“Share an article that triggers a conversation, so you have to read the article first before you can upload it to Twitter. We are currently trying the feature on Android where users must open the article that they want to retweet first,” Twitter wrote in the Twitter Support account.
This is not the only feature launched by Twitter to prevent the spread of content that contains misinformation. Previously they launched a feature that would tell users to edit their tweets before being posted to Twitter.
