Twelve Minutes, the long-awaited indie game from Annapurna Interactive, continues not to have a precise launch date; however, you don’t have to worry: the title will be released “very soon.”
During the latest [email protected] showcase, Annapurna’s Luis Antonio confirmed that the development team is working on the final details and refinements, a sign that the release is now imminent.
No further information about the game has been released, as Annapurna wants to keep the surprise effect until the end; however, it is comforting to know that we will not have to wait long to try this peculiar experiment.
For the uninitiated, in Twelve Minutes, we will play a man who has just returned from work and is about to have dinner with his wife. After a few minutes, their apartment is invaded by the police, who accuse the protagonist of murder.
The subsequent beating will kill the protagonist, but it is now that the matter will become complicated: instead of dying, you will wake up at the precise moment you return home, thus repeating the events of the last 12 minutes.
This will be the game’s main gimmick: every 12 minutes or following your death, the game will restart in an infinite time loop. Obviously, although the protagonists will forget everything at each reset, they will keep the memory of the events and their ramifications. It will be up to them to discover the truth behind the loop and all the misfortunes.
When it comes out, Twelve Minutes will be an exclusive Xbox console for Xbox One and Xbox Series X / S but will also be available on PC. Small noteworthy detail: among the game’s voice actors, we will also have the well-known actor Willem Dafoe.
