One fan has posted footage showing what Skyrim would look like if made on Unreal Engine 5.
The project’s author is Christian Gomm, the environment artist at the independent studio Myrkur Games. Using the Epic Games engine, the developer recreated Riverwood, a region known from The Elder Scrolls 5.
As the creator explains, the graphic elements visible in the materials consist of 100,000 to 15 million polygons. In his works, he used, among others, photogrammetry and the Nanite function, thanks to which he obtained better image quality.
Gomm argues that most of the locations were created in a few days, but he added more objects over the next few days, including stumps and logs. He designed the pines with Speed Tree and the spruces with the content available in the Unreal developer store.
The author points out that the project was created to improve the skills related to photogrammetry. It is not clear yet, but most likely, it will not renew the rest of the Skyrim locations in a similar way.
