According to a video from the YouTube channel Modern Vintage Gamer, the new PS4 firmware update 9.00 would prevent the console’s battery from affecting the ability to launch games.
This peculiar issue unofficial by PlayStation arose from some past speculations that the battery that powers the clock inside each PS3 and PS4 would prevent their games from starting. Of course, this would only happen if the battery would run out as it is linked to the verification of information of the PlayStation trophies.
Modern Vintage Gamer instead showed that the games continued to run even after removing the battery, but only after updating his PlayStation 4 with the new firmware. We cannot know whether the new update fixes this problem as there is no mention of battery changes.
