The Last of Us Part 2 received an exclusive update for PlayStation 5, which improves the game’s performance, allowing it to run at 60 frames per second on Sony’s latest console.
The announcement was made through the PS Blog, where it is explained that the update allows you to choose a performance option of 30 or 60 FPS.
The Digital Foundry had the opportunity to test the game performance with the new update thoroughly, noting that now the PlayStation 5 can “double the performance of the PlayStation 4 Pro” in the game. Even in situations where the PS4 Pro had a hard time keeping 30 frames per second stable, PS5 has no problem fixing itself at 60 frames per second. In fact, in the 8 hours of registered gameplay, Digital Foundry only came across a case where the frame rate dropped below 60 frames per second and remained at 57 frames per second.
According to Arne Meyer, communications director at Naughty Dog, this is just the first step in the studio’s work on PlayStation 5, revealing that the team is very excited about what the future holds.
Although Neil Druckmann has no plans for a TLOU2 DLC, the game has already received some new features since its launch, namely the ‘permadeath’ mode and an additional difficulty level.
According to several rumors, in other news from the universe of The Last of us, we may have a PlayStation 5 version of the original The Last of Us. Regarding the future of the franchise, the third title in the series is already outlined, but we will still have to wait a long time to play.
