Guerrilla announced that it had released another update for Horizon Zero Dawn on PC, including introducing DLSS image scaling technology from Nvidia.
In addition, there is also the FidelityFX Super Resolution image sharpening method from AMD, replacing the previously available, less complex FidelityFX CAS.
There are also a few smaller changes and novelties, including adapting the interface to the requirements of the scaling techniques mentioned. Some changes were also made to the shader management.
First, these are no longer computed at game start, which should speed up initial loading. Instead, the relevant content is loaded in the background while the save is loading.
Significance reduced” also stuttering that occurred earlier when reading shaders, though players may now notice a higher CPU load.
The loading screens will be waiting for the full shader compilation. This can make the wait longer on some configurations and warn the developers.
On the other hand, it should be the opposite on more powerful computers, as optimization for modern processors has made loading faster.
