A little over a week after the release of the new Japanese trailer, Square Enix and Lancarse are back to show The Diofield Chronicle to Western audiences, confirming the release date set for September 22 on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X / S, Switch and PC. The new trailer dubbed in English reveals further details on the history and gameplay of this ambitious strategic JRPG and finally announces the opening of pre-orders for the three editions available at launch: Standard, Deluxe, and Collector’s Edition.
The Diofield Chronicle is set in a fantasy world that mixes medieval and modern elements. Under the steadfast reign of the Shaytham dynasty, the kingdom of Alletain has lived peacefully on DioField Island for 200 years but suddenly finds itself catapulted into an age of uncertainty due to war powers and modern magic. The kingdom of Alletain has ample reserves of jade, highly coveted as a staple ingredient in magic, but this draws the attention of the Empire and the Alliance. Players will control a band of elite mercenaries known as the “Blue Fox,” who, with their actions, can give hope to the inhabitants of DioField or cause a tragedy.
The Diofield Chronicle will be available from September 22 in three different editions. The Standard Edition (€ 59.99 on all platforms) includes the base game with the free upgrade for next-gen (PS4 and Xbox One only), and in case of pre-order, the physical copy ships with a Steelbook. The Digital Deluxe Edition (€ 74.99) includes the bonus items “Knight’s Spear” and “Mystical Ring,” two days of early access, the artbook and digital soundtrack, and finally, the Collector’s Edition (€ 189.99 ) includes The DioField Chronicle board game and a set of pins.
