Electronic Arts have hired former Monolith Productions vice president Kevin Stevens to lead its new Seattle studio. The unit, which will be led by the developer who previously oversaw the creation of Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor and Shadow of War, has no name yet, but EA plans to focus on creating open-world adventure games. This was announced by Laura Miele, Head of Development Studios at Electronic Arts, assuring that Stevens’ experience, talent, and leadership will be invaluable in forming the new team.
“Kevin joining forces with Samantha and the incredibly talented teams at Electronic Arts adds even more depth to our creative collective,” EA chief studios officer Laura Miele said.
“Kevin is an exceptionally talented game developer leader and we look forward to supporting him while he builds his team. As someone known for his open world action-adventure games, we know players will be eagerly awaiting more details on this new studio and its projects.”
According to Samantha Ryan, who was president of Monolith Productions in the 1990s and worked with Stevens, fans of these games are usually very passionate and passionate. Now serving as vice president of Electronic Arts, she also highlighted successful and well-received titles such as Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and Mass Effect: Legendary Edition, pointing out the direction the studio’s first Seattle-based project is likely to take.
