Tales of Arise, the new chapter in the Tales of series due out on September 10, 2021, around the world, which you can get a taste of with the demo announced by the developers at the beginning of August, could receive other remakes and remasters.
The free trial is available on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X / S and will remain active even after the game launches. A few days after the debut of the new chapter of the famous JRPG series under the Bandai Namco brand and producers are already thinking about the future.
The saga celebrates its 25th anniversary this year, and the producers want to expand the circle of fans, making Tales of Arise interesting for any new players. In particular, the Producer Yosuke Tomizawa highlighted that the last unreleased chapters of the game could only count on a 10% of the public still unrelated to the series and that Bandai Namco would like to bite on this, also to be able to hypothetically invest in the future of the saga with the remake and remastered.
Although remasters and remakes have increased significantly in recent years, only two of the Tales of games have been re-released: Tales of Symphonia (PC, 2016) and Tales of Vesperia (PC, PS4, Xbox One, Switch, 2019). And while these releases brought Japan-exclusive content to the West, it’s not that the games themselves were discoveries for gamers outside of Japan.
In conclusion, many episodes of Tales have never received the green light for production outside of Japan. If Tales of Arise manages to have enough, says Tomizawa, the plans for the realization of further remakes and remastered ones would certainly become more concrete.
