During the traditional insight into the new Super Smash Bros. Ultimate fighter, Masahiro Sakurai revealed the DLC release date. Sephiroth will be available starting December 23, with the ability to unlock it early after completing a particular challenge. The game director also revealed the next wave of Mii fighter costumes, which includes Tifa, Aerith, Barret, a Chocobo hat, and Geno from Super Mario RPG.

It will be possible to unlock the character in advance with a special limited mode, the Sephiroth challenge. If you have the Fighters Pass Vol. 2 or the Challenger Set 8 and pass the challenge, you can have him and his scenario before the official release.
Also revealed are the new upcoming Mii Fighter Costumes that include other familiar faces from Final Fantasy VII and beyond. Barret (Mii Riflemen), Tifa (Mii Fighters), Aerith (Mii Swordsmen), a Chocobo Hat, and Geno (Mii Riflemen) will arrive. The latter, long requested by fans as an addition to the roster, will come for now only in the form of skins, as has already happened for Super Smash Bros. 3DS and Wii U.
The music tracks that will join the immense soundtrack of the Nintendo game have also been revealed. These include some of the most famous from Final Fantasy VII. Here is the list:
