Unknown Worlds Entertainment is working on a new chapter in the Subnautica series, the third after the 2018 video game and 2021 stand-alone expansion Subnautica: Below Zero. The job offers published on the official website suggest a project in pre-production, so we will hardly see this new video game before 2024/25. Still, if nothing else, we now have confirmation that the universe created by the US studio will continue to expand too in the future.
The job offer published by Unknown Worlds is addressed to a Senior Narrative Designer. It would be enough to speculate on the production of a new chapter in the series. Still, fortunately, the studio has left no doubt, writing on social networks that “the developer will contribute to the creation of a new video game set in the universe of Subnautica, “implicitly confirming the production of a third chapter. Positions for Graphics Engineer, Senior System Programmer, and Quality Assurance Lead are also open on the official website.
The development of this new chapter should have started a few months ago. It was practically obvious given the success of the series, with the first game capable of selling over 5 million copies just two years after its launch. Pending further information, we remind you that Subnautica and Subnautica: Below Zero are available now on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X / S, Switch and PC.
