Stray, the third-person adventure game about a cat lost in a robotic cybercity, is on its way, but in 2022.
Announced during today’s Annapurna showcase, we’ve seen a new trailer for the game, which showcases the game’s variety of missions, exploration, and even combat. When playing as a cat separated from its family and lost in a city full of ‘human-like machines,’ you need to get home with the help of a drone called the B-12.
From what we’ve seen so far, the game starts with the cat character, who falls into the mysterious city, getting hurt in the process. As you progress, you’ll solve puzzles, help townspeople (when you find lost sheet music for a musician, for example), and need to avoid danger. B-12 will act as your medium of communication, translating the world around you and storing items in your cat’s backpack for you.
The title seems to bring more focus on stealth (and, of course, your character can run, jump, and climb with ease), but B-12 can also use what appears to be a disintegration light on certain enemies.
Stray is the debut project of French developer BlueTwelve Studio, who graduated in 2016 and started working on the game. The work will arrive on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and PC in early 2022.
