The hair in Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin seems to be slowing down the game’s performance on its PC version.
As detected by PC Gamer, users have resorted to modifying the hair of the game’s characters so that Stranger of Paradise works at a higher frame rate per second. A necessary sacrifice for some players.
Reddit user MorrisonGamer discovered that hair could be the culprit when he found that the closer players get to other characters, the worse the performance: drops of up to eight frames per second are recorded if there are many NPCs (with hair) on screen.
They shared their discoveries on Twitter, posting a video of their RTX 3090, a high-end graphics card, dropping to 25 frames per second while standing next to a character with big hair.
Although not a real solution, MorrisonGamer has shared a possible option: a mod that allows users to disable hair. This means that all the characters in the game move at a reasonable frame rate, although they will all be bald, of course.
The poor performance appears to result from the PC port being poorly optimized, as Twitter user DeathChaos25 pointed out, but no drastic issues have been reported on the console.
