Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin, the spin-off of the first Final Fantasy developed by Nioh and Ninja Gaiden, has returned to show itself during a live event organized to celebrate the 34th birthday of the saga. During the live stream, the developers of Team Ninja shared two new cinematic trailers and many gameplay videos and unveiled the cover of the retail edition of the game.
In the first trailer, you can see the antagonist Chaos kidnaps Princess Sarah, daughter of the King of Cornelia. The royal guard tries to prevent the kidnapping, but Chaos easily eliminates the knights in a decidedly gory scene by Final Fantasy standards. In the game, Jack and his party will have to complete the prophecy of the Crystals and get rid of Chaos, but the rescue of the princess may become another of the objectives of the protagonists.
In the second trailer, however, we see Jack, Ash, Jed, and Neon embark on their first adventure after consulting the King. In the video, it is also possible to hear a variation of the main theme of the Final Fantasy series, which therefore also returns in this singular spin-off.
The two gameplay videos show Jack Garland’s classes, the protagonist, ranging from boxer to samurai, passing through black, red, white, thief, or knight magician. Square Enix has revealed thirteen classes, but the number may increase at launch.
As for the cover of the retail edition, Square Enix has completely abandoned the minimalist style of the first twelve chapters, and as in Final Fantasy XIII and XV, has preferred to add the faces of the protagonists on the cover. At the bottom, you can take a look at the videos.
Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin will debut on March 18, 2022, on PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X / S, PS4, and PS5.
