Starting today, Steam will celebrate roguelikes with a festival dedicated to the genre, called Going Rogue: A Festival of Persistence.
Until the 9th of May, players will be able to enjoy deep discounts on games covered under this relatively comprehensive rating.
Doing justice to the festival’s name, roguelikes are marked by considerable complexity. These random maps insist on surprising players, great difficulty, and also the fact that a death translates into a restart of the players’ adventure. Hence, it takes a lot of persistence to reach the end of these games.
In recent years, the genre has gained immense popularity, thanks to games like Hades, considered one of the best flagships of the genre, or Returnal, which also adopts several core elements of the roguelike genre. To this list can be added names like Dead Cells, Darkest Dungeon, The Binding of Isaac, or Rogue Legacy 2, among many others.
