Since Microsoft acquired Undead Labs in 2018, the studio has just announced that it is developing State of Decay 3 for the Xbox Series X|S and PC, remaining relatively silent for some time.
Now Simon Sherr, director of the animation at Undead Labs, has revealed through his LinkedIn that the studio will open a new office in Orlando, Florida, confirming that State of Decay 3 is being developed on Unreal Engine 5.
As can be seen on the LinkedIn page, the new office of Undead Labs in Orlando will be in charge of Sherr. It will be responsible for the game’s animation technology, also having the mission of “fostering collaboration between the various Xbox studios.”
Unreal Engine 5 is the most advanced game engine today and is increasingly being used by video game studios, who manage to recreate truly impressive graphics.
Undead Labs is not the only Xbox studio to use Unreal Engine 5. The Coalition has already revealed that it will use this technology in its next projects. Also, take the opportunity to look at Ill, a horror game with impressive graphics that uses Unreal Engine 5.
