Devil Summoner, the spin-off series by Shin Megami Tensei, will return in a few months with Soul Hackers 2, a new chapter coming out on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X / S, and PC. The new JRPG of Atlus has been announced with a splendid trailer. The protagonists are shown, and the first details of the story are revealed, complete with gameplay scenes that confirm the presence of turn-based combat and the now-iconic demons familiar to all franchise fans.
Devil Summoner was born as a spin-off of Shin Megami Tensei and was first released in December 1995 only in Japan. The game’s success convinced Atlus to develop Devil Summoner: Soul Hackers, a further sub-series with sci-fi components, and now, twenty-five years after the game’s release, the Japanese studio has announced a sequel.
As you can see from the title, Soul Hackers 2 has lost the Devil Summoner terminology, so Atlus may have decided to turn it into a new stand-alone Persona-style spin-off series. Below, you can look at the first trailer of the new chapter, out on August 25, 2022, on consoles and PC, including Xbox.
Soul Hackers 2 will be available in both physical and digital editions and will return to show before the launch on August 25. To coincide with the announcement, Atlus also unveiled a limited edition available only in Japan, which includes a copy of the game, the soundtrack, a 100+ page Artbook, a figurine, and a Persona 5 inspired DLC . with four skins for the protagonists taken from the clothing of Ryuji, Joker, Ann, and Akechi.
