Sony Patents Liquid Metal System For PS5 Cooling

Nowadays, the new generation consoles are in fierce competition. Both the PS5 and the Xbox show the advantages of technology, features, and game titles. Interestingly, the Controllers of both have been shown to the public and received responses from their fans. Although until now, there has been no official clarity regarding the release date of the two.

Reporting from Gamers, Sony patented a liquid metal system for PS5 coolers. Previously, the Playstation console used a fan cooling system. However, it is always protested because of the noise from the fan. Sony later patented the Liquid Metal system for the PS5 cooler, where the metal liquid will melt when the console is turned on to cool the console.

Liquefied Liquid Metal will replace the lubricant that lies between the semiconductor chip and the system radiator. According to the patent, metal will decrease the thermal resistance between these two console parts. This will improve the cooling performance of the semiconductor chip; the melting will also take advantage of the melting of the semiconductor. It will also not leak because it has been preserved with ultraviolet resin.

Therefore, the above description provides an overview of Sony’s patented Liquid Metal system for the PS5 cooler. This is a pretty good step to replace the cooling system from the fan. However, this system has not been shown to the public. The reliability will probably be tested when the PS5 releases later.
