Sony has officially announced the WF-1000XM4 earbuds. The in-ear headphones leaked earlier but have now been officially unveiled by Sony. The new earbuds will be available later this month and will cost $279.99.
The WF-1000XM4 is Sony’s in-ear flagship and features “digital noise canceling with the Integrated Processor V1.” The first images shared by the developer show that the appearance of the XM4 has changed considerably compared to its predecessor. The appearance has been modified to make it look better and have a better fit, and the WF-1000XM4 features Automatic Wind Noise Reduction. In addition, there are improved microphones and a 6mm audio driver.
In addition to these visible and invisible improvements, Sony has also added some smart functions to the earbuds. For example, Speak-to-Chat ensures that when you start talking, the music stops playing, and the background noise is let through. By placing your hand on your pinna – and therefore on an earplug – the music will pause due to the ‘Quick Attention mode.
Furthermore, Adaptive Sound Control ensures that the noise cancellation is automatically activated in preset places. Finally, there is the ‘Instant pause and play function that pauses the music when you take one of the two earbuds out of your ear. The music will continue playing when you put the device back in your ear.
The Sony WF-1000XM4 will be available from June 11 for $279.99 in silver or black.
