On the occasion of the Sonic Central event, the first virtual event dedicated to the Sega icon, the Japanese house unveiled the arrival of Sonic Colors: Ultimate, a high definition re-edition of the platform launched in 2021. The game is in development on PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Switch and will arrive on September 7, flanked by a two-part animated series entitled Sonic Colors: Rise of the Wisps.
During the event organized by Sega to celebrate the thirtieth anniversary of the Sonic the Hedgehog series, the Japanese company has announced some of the private initiatives of the blue hedgehog fans. Among them certainly stands out the return of Sonic Colors, whose new edition high definition will be titled Ultimate. Here is the official presentation trailer.
The development team has revealed that it has perfected the control system and proposed a whole series of tricks to make the gaming experience more modern, an aspect that will be clearly emphasized by a new high-definition graphics sector that, on PS5 and Xbox Series X, will give its best thanks to backward compatibility. Apparently, a native version is not planned to take advantage of the power of the new consoles from Sony and Microsoft.
The remastered is in development on PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch and will debut in digital and retail formats (except for the PC edition, launched exclusively on the Epic Games Store) on September 7th. Sonic Colors: Ultimate is available for pre-order today, offering those who pre-order a copy some exclusive bonuses, including a “Baby Sonic” keychain.
It doesn’t end there for fans of the franchise: Sega has announced the arrival of a two-part animation series that will take the name of Sonic Colors: Rise of the Wisps, which will be composed of short episodes voiced by a cast of actors and famous voice actors, including the legendary Roger Craig Smith, the historical voice of Sonic.
Waiting for more details, we leave you to the official teaser trailer of Sonic Colors: Rise of the Wisps.
