Konami has renewed the patent protecting the copyright under the Silent Hill game, at a time when rumors point to a potential return for the franchise.
As reported by the Video Games Chronicle website, the information was first discovered by Reddit user LongJonSiIlver, who will have seen the update for the renewal process.
This patent covers video game production virtual reality headsets, among other goods and services, although this is not uncommon as Konami still sells some Silent Hill merchandise.
Silent Hill has been dormant since 2012 after the first game was released in 1999. In 2014, rumors of a possible return grew, with the release of PT, which would be a supposed demo of a new Silent Hill, created by Hideo Kojima and Guillermo del Toro.
Rumors about new Silent Hill projects have been multiplying in recent years, but nothing official has been announced so far.
