Samsung Smartphones Can Now Replace ID for Germany Citizens

Current technological developments have made the function of more and more smartphones. Even now, smartphones can also be used as a substitute for car keys to becoming a TV remote.

Well, recently Samsung has collaborated with the German Federal Office for Information Security (BSI), Bundesdruckerei (Bdr) and Deutsche Telekom Security to present special technology that makes Samsung smartphones can be used as a replacement for ID card in Germany.

It is stated that Samsung smartphones will get support to store their ID card in electronic form (eID) so that people in Germany will not need to be bothered when asked for ID card with various purposes.

Samsung Smartphones Can Now Replace ID for Germany Citizens

It is known that this feature is currently only available for Samsung’s latest smartphone, the Galaxy S20 Series. The reason is that this smartphone has certain technology that can support this electronic ID card feature.

But it is now trying to bring a unique application on the Google Play Store so that citizens in Germany can later download this application easily on their Samsung smartphones.

Please note, this feature requires NFC technology or Near Field Communication which is commonly used to make electronic payments because users only need to bring their smartphones closer to the NFC reader to make transactions.
