The gaming world was surprised by a Bloomberg news in April of last year, when it told us that being in a very embryonic process of pre-production of the next AAA for PS5, Naughty Dog would have ordered a remake of The Last of Us, a game that was released on PS3 in 2013, followed by a remastered version for PS4 in 2014.
The remake for PS5 is increasingly a certainty, and judging by a new rumor, its development is practically finished, so the launch should occur during the second half of 2022.
The information is from Tom Henderson (via VGC ), who claims to have heard the same information from “multiple people.” If confirmed, we would be looking at a big year in terms of PlayStation Studios exclusives, Horizon Forbidden West, Gran Turismo 7, God of War Ragnarok, and with this rumor, The Last of Us Remake.
Despite never being officially announced, the remake is easy to communicate. Sony would have no trouble explaining to its audience what it is about, and it is one of the most celebrated titles among the PlayStation community.
Additionally, the last quarter of the year, which is always extremely strong for the video game industry, still does not have confirmed exclusives for the PS5, increasing the likelihood that this hypothesis will be effectively correct.
