Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart includes an in-game weapon that can summon objects from various other games.
Insomniac Games made this known via a tweet after hinting at the weapon several times. It is an inter-dimensional portal gun that can drop large objects from other dimensions (read: PlayStation games) on enemies. For example, we see that the Thunder Jaw from Horizon Zero Dawn falls from a rift in the video.
By the way, the weapon is called the RYNO 8. Previously there were other versions of the RYNO in other games from Ratchet & Clank. Some fans took it to hint that Sunset Overdrive is also coming to the PlayStation soon. This was reinforced when Insomniac suddenly took out a Twitter account that represents a character from Sunset Overdrive. In addition, Insomniac also posted screenshots on Twitter showing Fizzie coming out of a rift in Ratchet & Clank.
Sunset Overdrive was published by Microsoft for the Xbox One and was developed by Insomniac Games, a studio now owned by PlayStation. This begs the question: Will Sunset Overdrive ever come to PlayStation?
There’s also the possibility that Insomniac is just having some fun on Twitter and trying to build the hype. There was also a hint to Sly Cooper, Naughty Dog’s Uncharted series, and the Thunder Jaw from Horizon. We don’t think Sony is going to do anything with all these titles at the moment.
