Fanatec has announced the GT DD Pro – the first direct drive wheel for PS5. The device was created with Gran Turismo 7 in mind and was developed with the title’s creators, i.e., the Polyphony Digital studio.
The gadget can be ordered on the manufacturer’s website, but shipping will start on March 14, 2022. Several models have been prepared, and the cheapest one costs 699.95 euros. The equipment is also compatible with PC and PS4 and other racing games.
Direct drive handlebars provide better vibration and smoother control by not having the belts and gears used in less expensive devices. The GT DD Pro comes with two pedals as standard and has a maximum torque of 5Nm, which can, however, be increased to 8Nm with the separately sold Boost Kit 180.
Interestingly, the manufacturer’s offer includes a package with the equipment and the accessory mentioned above for EUR 849.95 and a version with three pedals for EUR 969.85. Tuning kits and a package with a clutch and load cells will also be available for sale.
There are buttons known from the PlayStation console on the steering wheel, an OLED screen displaying, among other things, information about the speed of the vehicle, and four differently colored buttons to change the settings. Plus the logo of the Gran Turismo series.
