An analyst specializing in the screen supply market believes that the PS VR 2 goggles will not appear until 2023.
The CEO of Display Supply Chain Consultants – Ross Young – presented a forecast. He predicts that thanks to the premiere of the device from PlayStation, interest in AMOLED displays will increase.
However, the manager’s comment on Twitter, where he shared the analysis, is noteworthy. In an entry published, he said that this year, supplies of VR screens will increase by more than half ” despite the delays made by Apple and Sony for 2023 “.
When mentioning the Japanese concern, Young had in mind the PS VR 2, to which he devotes the forecast. This, of course, is not official news, but as an industry analyst, he probably has reliable information.
In the text itself, the head of Display Supply Chain Consultants predicts that the virtual reality goggles will be a hit among players. He believes that the success of the equipment will be influenced by the high contrast of the screens and the absence of the so-called “screen door” effect when gaps between the displayed pixels are visible.
Sony has still not disclosed the PS VR 2 release date. Bloomberg’s unofficial information suggested that the hardware would debut during this year’s holiday season, so Young’s news may mean that the premiere has been postponed.
