Pokémon Legends: Arceus, the new chapter of the Pokémon series on Nintendo Switch in January 2022, will not be an Open World as hypothesized by much of the community. The confirmation comes directly from The Pokémon Company, which revealed new details on the game structure and gameplay loop in a press release.
“In Pokémon Legends: Arceus, players, will start from the Jubilant Village, which will serve as the base for the discovery missions. After receiving an assignment or request and preparing for the excursion, players will depart from the village to study various open areas of the Hisui region. After completing the survey work, players will have to return to the village to prepare for the next mission.
We look forward to sharing more information on exploring the Hisui region soon. “
Therefore, the game map will be divided into macro-areas connected with the starting village in the Monster Hunter style. Players will accept missions in the Jubilation Village, where they will also purchase items and trade and then choose which zone to travel to complete their tasks. The map visible below shows the region of Hisui (the Sinnoh of the past) and some areas outlined in green, so the world map may be divided into seven / eight areas of similar size to be explored after accepting a mission.
Pokémon Legends: Arceus will be released exclusively on Switch on January 28, 2022. More information about the game will be revealed ahead of launch.
