During the first presentation of 2019, Blizzard had confirmed that Overwatch 2 would also be released on Nintendo Switch. Still, over the years, the software house has practically no longer expressed itself on the matter. Intrigued about the status of the Switch version, some fans recently asked technical director John Lafleur for clarification, and a few hours ago, the answer came.
During an AMA (Ask me Anything) on Reddit, a user asked Lafleur what the status of Overwatch 2 was on the Nintendo Switch, and the developer stated the following:
“The hardware we can work on today is much more advanced. , so we’re trying to add as much detail to Overwatch 2 as possible , but obviously our main goal is to make the experience enjoyable for all players, regardless of platform. Working on the Switch has a few more limitations, so we have had to find some compromises. Our focus is to make sure that all the gameplay mechanics are in place, and once this is achieved, we will begin to increase the graphics quality as much as possible. “
Nintendo Switch is a relatively young console with over four years behind it and an extremely robust player base, with over 85 million users. Of course, Nintendo’s hybrid console pales in front of PS5 and Xbox Series X / S, but Blizzard still seems intent on ensuring a top-notch experience, which is likely to be even smoother and more detailed on the Nintendo Switch Pro.
Overwatch 2 currently has no release date but will most likely arrive in 2022. The game will be released on all platforms, last-gen and next-gen, including Switch and PC.
