Outriders will get a free demo on February 25th, including all four classes, six character slots, crossplay, and much more. Also, players will take the progression from the demo to the full game.
Square Enix and People Can Fly have revealed the details for the demo via a thread on Twitter. They confirm that all players on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X / S, Xbox One, and PC will be able to try Outriders for free. Players do not need to purchase or pre-order the game for this.
While Outriders will also be available on Google Stadia upon release, this platform will not get a demo.
The demo will not have a time limit for playing or accessing the game. Even after the release of April 1, 2021, the demo should still be playable. The demo will be live from 25 February at 6:00 PM. It is not yet possible to download the demo in advance, but we do know that players must have at least 22GB space on consoles and 24GB on PC.
During gameplay, cross-play is available, but the feature is in the beta phase and must be manually activated through the settings.
Players can then get started with the prologue and the first chapter of the game. That means enemies and gear are in the early stages of the game. As players play further in the story, these two parts will become “crazier, more exotic and stronger.”
The end of the demo is the fight against Gauss. This is “the first rival Altered that may be even more dangerous than you.” After defeating Gauss, players unlock an additional mission in which it is possible to explore the world.
As mentioned earlier, the demo contains all four classes and six slots to store characters. This allows players to try all classes without removing a character.
The maximum level that characters can reach in the demo is seven. When that level is reached, a character has four abilities that match the class, and two skill points are available for the skill tree.
World Tiers is a dynamic in-game system that adjusts the difficulty level. In the demo, players can play up to World Tier 5. At level 5, “the probability of rare gear is higher, but the drop probability for Legendary Gear is still very low.”
There is a maximum of resources you can collect in the demo. “That was done to keep the balance for the final game.” Resources are used in Outriders for crafting but can also be exchanged with armorers for better gear. The crafting system will be released when the demo is finished, but players can save the resources and bring them into the full game.
Anyone who wants to buy the game after playing the demo can take their progress with them. For this, players must buy the game on the same platform as they played the demo. Unfortunately, it is impossible to bring Steam’s demo to the final game on Epic Games Store.
The demo doesn’t contain any achievements or trophies yet, but “in-game braces show what players have already done.”
Streamers are allowed to stream the demo without restriction. The only thing that can cause problems is a demo at the end of the trailer containing licensed music.
Outriders themselves will be released on April 1, 2021.
