A little less than a year ago, in July 2021, we revealed in advance the existence of a new One Piece project in development called One Piece Odyssey. Today, about eight months after the trademark registration, Bandai Namco officially announced the game, a turn-based RPG in 2022 on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X / S, and PC. The announcement came during a live stream for the 25th anniversary of the series, along with the trailer and the first images.
One Piece Odyssey is described as “an amazing new RPG that will take players to the fantastic world of One Piece, with a new original story written under the supervision of author Eiichiro Oda. “Bandai Namco describes the story’s synopsis as follows:” During their journey, the Straw Hat crew led by Monkey D. Luffy is engulfed in a huge storm and ends up on a lush, mysterious island, each separated from the others and with the Thousand Sunny destroyed. The crew then sets out on an adventurous journey filled with wonders of nature, powerful enemies, and strange encounters with the islanders. Players will have to work with Luffy and crew members to be able to set sail again.” Check out the official trailer below.
“We are delighted to join the One Piece 25th-anniversary celebrations with the release of One Piece Odyssey,” said Bandai Namco Producer Katsuaki Tsuzuki. “We have joined forces with ILCA Inc. and are working hard in full collaboration with Eiichiro Oda to create an extraordinary adventure set in the world of One Piece, in a game that we hope will exceed the expectations of the players.”
ILCA is a Japanese studio based in Tokyo, famous for making Ace Combat 7 and the remakes of Pokémon Diamond and Pearl. Below, you can look at the first images of their new work, with new information on gameplay and releases scheduled for this summer.
