A new year has begun, and many Japanese developers and studios have shared their resolutions for 2022 with fans to celebrate. There is also Atlus, publisher of Persona, Shin Megami Tensei, and 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim, who published a celebratory postcard translated by the people of Persona Central a few days ago, which anticipates a big announcement scheduled for 2022.
“Happy New Year, everyone!” Reads the Atlus message published by Famitsu, “we will start 2022 with Persona 4 Arena Ultimax in March and the launch of 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim on Nintendo Switch in April. We are also preparing a surprise for fans with a new video game not yet announced. Also, the 25th anniversary of Persona that started last year will enter a new phase, so stay tuned! “.
As for the new project, many fans have pointed the finger at the mysterious Project RE Fantasy, which has been in development for many years and is now amid production. However, in the message, Atlus specifies that the announcement is linked to a project not yet announced, so it is much more likely that it is the sequel to some much-loved game or a completely new IP. At the end of the message, Atlus confirms that during the year, the celebrations for the 25th anniversary of Persona will continue. So it cannot be excluded that the big announcement concerns Persona 6, the highly anticipated new chapter of the series that we know has been in production for several years now.
What do you think of it? Is the time ripe for Persona 6 ? Or would you rather see Project RE Fantasy or a new IP first? Tell us in the comments!
