Square Enix ran a new live stream focused on the mobile title NieR Re[in]carnation, during which some minor details of NieR Replicant ver. 1.22474487139 were revealed.
During the broadcast, NieR creative director Yoko Taro and series director Yosuke Saito confirmed that NieR Replicant would include a new Weapon Story system, a system that veteran NieR Automata players will recognize.
If you are not familiar with the system, Weapon Story is a system through which the weapons you collect throughout the game can be used in combat and evolve. As they evolve, special stories can be unlocked that focus on weapons.
Yosuke Saito further revealed that NieR Replicant ver. 1.22474487139 will include a “mountain” of different parts of Weapon Story. Yoko Taro also revealed that the system came about because the producer of the first Drakengard asked him to make the game “more like an RPG.” Taro then did this by adding a huge amount of text through Weapon Story. As NieR Replicant had several missions, he did not see the need to put the original system, but now he will be back with NieR Replicant Ver 1.22.
NieR Replicant ver. 1.22474487139 will be released on April 24 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC via Steam.
