2K and Visual Concepts unveiled the new installment of the NBA 2K series worldwide on September 10, 2021. NBA 2K22 will be shown “over the next few weeks” with trailers and gameplay videos, but at the moment, the developers have decided to reveal the first information on price, covers, and details on the last-gen and next-gen versions.
NBA 2K22 will be the sports video game with “the best player presentation and best artificial intelligence ever seen in the series, featuring historic teams and athletes and a large number of game modes.” As for the editions, 2K has opened pre-orders for the classic Standard Edition (available in last-gen and next-gen versions), the cross-gen digital Bundle, and the NBA 2K22 75th Anniversary Edition, thus offering four different choices.
The Standard Edition is offered at $ 59.99 for PS4, Xbox One, PC, and Nintendo Switch, and $ 69.99 for PS5 and Xbox Series X / S, figures that should translate into the usual 69.99 and 79.99 euros. 22-year-old basketball player Luka Dončić was chosen as the cover man for both versions. Still, for the first time, 2K also offers an alternative cover with Chicago Sky big forward Candace Parker, the first woman to receive this honor.
