MultiVersus: trailer of the free-to-play fighting game with Shaggy, Batman, and Arya Stark

Warner Bros. Games has officially announced MultiVersus, a new free-to-play platform fighter based on 2 vs 2 team fights with an ever-expanding cast of iconic characters and legendary universes. Developed by Player First Games, MultiVersus will be available in 2022 for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X / S, and PC, with full cross-play support, dedicated servers, and content-rich seasons. Pre-registration for the next game test is now available on the official website.

The existence of the MultiVersus project had been anticipated by some leakers last October 25, regarding a fighting game in the wake of Smash Bros. starring Batman, Gandalf, Shaggy, and many others. Player First Games has revealed only the first thirteen members of the roster, and not all those anticipated by Jeff Grubb and the other insiders are present. Still, the studio has also stated that the number of playable characters will increase dramatically in the future.

According to the official website, MultiVerseis based on fights that emphasize online cooperative gameplay: each fighter will be equipped with a full and deep set of combat mechanics that make the game’s new approach to 2 vs 2 fights unique. This allows fighters to show off movesets customizable that dynamically combine with those of other characters while facing each other to excel. From Wonder Woman and her Lasso of Truth being unexpectedly paired with Shaggy with her sandwich bullet to Arya Stark’s ability to switch faces used to complete Superman’s laser vision. As for the maps, the Batcave, Jake and Finn’s treehouse, and many others will be available at launch, while other areas will be introduced with subsequent updates. MultiVersusIt will also include intense 1v1 battles and a 4-player free-for-all mode.

MultiVersus will include a stellar cast of talents who will provide their voices to the game’s characters. Among them, Kevin Conroy (Batman: The Animated Series, Batman: Arkham series) will voice Batman, George Newbern (Justice League vs. the Fatal Five, Injustice 2) will play the role of Superman, and Abby Trott (Carmen Sandiego) as Wonder Woman. Tara Strong (Batman Ninja, Batman: Arkham series) will voice Harley Quinn, Matthew Lillard (Scooby-Doo) Shaggy, Eric Bauza (Looney Tunes Cartoons) will play Bugs Bunny and Maisie Williams (Game of Thrones), Arya Stark, John DiMaggio (Adventure Time) will voice Jake the Dog and Jeremy Shada (Adventure Time) Finn the Human, Daniel DiVenere (Spirit Riding Free) will play the role of Steven Universe and Estelle (Steven Universe) will voice Garnet.

The game will be available for free worldwide in 2022 and will support cross-play. To try it out, you can go to the official MultiVersus website and apply.
