Mobile Gaming recorded a 15% growth from 2020 to 2021, with just over 116 billion dollars generated through microtransactions and the purchase of video games on iOS and Android, out of 170 billion dollars generated by purchases related to the applications of the digital stores. According to what was reported by the latest market analysis, the video games in which the most money was invested were Roblox and Genshin Impact. At the same time, PUBG Mobile was the most played title ever, closely followed by Candy Crush, Free Fire, and Among Us.
In 2021, mobile users spent an average of $ 320,000 per minute on digital stores, mostly on video game microtransactions. The average hours per day spent on smartphone apps increased to 4.8 hours per user, up 30% compared to 2020. The figures again demonstrate how tiny the console video game market is compared to the mobile one, which is no coincidence that it is increasingly in the sights of the great gaming giants, including Sony and Microsoft, with the former having already opened a studio to bring the large PlayStation IPs to smartphones.
What do you think of it? Do you play something on your smartphone? Let us know if you are also used to spending on microtransactions and your favorite mobile games!
