In the latest Development Update, the guys from Asobo Studio confirmed the introduction of one of the features most requested by the Microsoft Flight Simulator community: the helicopters will be integrated into the flight simulator starting next year.
While we anxiously await the debut of the Xbox version of Microsoft Flight Simulator, whose launch is scheduled for the end of the month, the developers of Asobo Studio have provided a new update to the simulator community, confirming the roadmap of the contents that will arrive from here in September and plans for new releases in 2022.
With the launch on Xbox Series X / S and the Update 5 version almost upon us, it is time for the software house to look to the future and plan the next updates: the developers have confirmed some of the news that will arrive in the weeks to come, including a new update that will expand the number of buildings and points of interest in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. This update, titled World Update 6, will be anticipated by a trailer next month and is expected to debut on August 24th.
However, the most interesting news lies in confirming a feature that the community has longed for: the introduction of helicopters. The team shared a photo that included the most frequently voted features by Flight Simulator players, a list in which the addition of helicopters among the simulator’s playable vehicles took first place with more than 1500 votes.
Therefore, the introduction of helicopters was confirmed by Asobo, which indicated this feature among those planned for 2022. Among the other innovations requested by the community, we note the addition of specific features for multiple screens (the development of which is already underway, with launch scheduled between the end of the year and early 2022), support for DirectX 12, and all integration of a way to manage replays.
With the confirmation of the arrival of the helicopters in Flight Simulator, Microsoft and Asobo Studio will likely share more information at the end of the year or, at the latest, in the first months of 2022. In the meantime, the flight simulator is preparing to make its debut on Xbox Series X and Series X on August 27, with a version that, despite its “small” size compared to the PC edition, will allow for performance similar to that of high-end computers.
