The PlayStation 5 DualSense controller has advanced tactile feedback and adaptive triggers and is arguably the first gamepad in quite a while to truly enhance gameplay in new ways. It looks like Microsoft is keeping an eye on some of these new DualSense features. The company recently sent out a survey to new Xbox Series X and S owners asking them to rate their experience and indicate what they might want in the future. Interestingly, one question specifically asks if the user is “knowledgeable about the features of PlayStation controllers ” and which of those features they would like to see in future Xbox controllers.
The base Xbox Series, X / S controller, is unlikely to receive new features in the future. Still, Microsoft is almost certainly working on the third version of its Xbox Elite controller, which may include features such as tactile sensations and adaptive triggers.
