Take-Two Interactive has publicly released its second-quarter earnings report. This one reveals that Marvel’s upcoming strategy game, developed by Firaxis Games studio, Marvel’s Midnight Suns, will be postponed until the second half of next year.
The title was initially slated for release in March 2022, so it’s not a giant change, having been moved somewhere between July and December.
In a press release, the company implied that the postponement would be related to the increase in the difficulty and complexity of video game development, something proportional to technological advances.
It is increasingly possible to create more complex and technologically interesting games, but, on the other hand, they are increasingly difficult to develop and, proportionally, take longer to be ready for the consumer to enjoy.
In a conversation with IGN, Take-Two’s CEO, Zelnick, went into more detail about the reasons that led Take-Two, 2K, and Firaxis to opt for the postponement:
” We think it needs more development time to be all it can be, ” he said. ” We are known for providing our talent with the time and resources necessary so that those who have invested in our company can have space to follow their passions and have everything necessary to follow them, and that is what it takes to create the titles of the highest quality in this industry, for which we are known. “
Marvel’s Midnight Suns is a title that will use the famous model in the XCOM series, but with the necessary differences to accommodate the fantasy of Marvel’s superheroes.
