Crystal Dynamics has published the updated Marvel’s Avengers 2021 Roadmap, revealing the official release date of update 2.2. The new version of the game will be available on all platforms starting November 30. It will introduce an avalanche of news, the most difficult raid ever, and a new character, Spider-Man, exclusively for PS4 and PS5 owners.
First, Spider-Man will only arrive on PlayStation and be accompanied by a special event dedicated to him, so there will be story missions and cutscenes. The Square Enix website teases that Peter Parker will be introduced as a lone superhero fighting AIM. Throughout the story, he will have to decide whether to partner with the Avengers or continue acting alone.
In addition to the friendly neighborhood Spider-Man, the final Klaw Raid will be introduced, set right after the War for Wakanda expansion events. The Raid will be the most difficult ever and will allow players to defeat the Black Panther villain once and for all. To face this mission, the developers have decided to increase the level cap from 150 to 175 and have introduced a new mechanic of equipment recycling. All these innovations are added a new type of enemies, extra missions and objectives, new outfits and “expeditions,” crates that can be purchased with the in-game currency that can contain premium outfits previously sold for real money.
Marvel’s Avengers was recently called a disappointment by the President of Square Enix, and at the moment, it seems to have not yet recovered the development costs. With these new updates, Crystal Dynamics and Eidos Montréal should increase sales and recover costs.
