Some issues involving Sega and actor Takuya Kimura’s agency, the face of Lost Judgment and Judgment, could spell the end of the series. Apparently, the agency prevents Kimura from appearing in PC games for reasons of the image not yet fully understood, thus blocking the launch of the two games on Steam. This may not benefit the series commercially and end the series with Lost Judgment as the final installment.
Lost Judgment could be the last game in the Judgment series due to Sega and actor Takuya Kimura’s agency issues. Japanese site Nikkan Taishu says sources say Kimura’s talent agency – Johnny & Associates – has blocked PC versions of the Judgment series games because they don’t want Kimura to appear in PC games.
While it’s not entirely clear why the site suggests that because Johnny & Associates “has tight control over the rights of their talent and the use of their online image is still limited to a few,” the agency may be dealing with the games for PC differently because the home computer has direct access to the Internet.
The report says Sega has tried to bring Judgment and Lost Judgment to Steam, but it could draw a line under the series after Lost Judgment as the agency prevents it from happening.
“The creators of the game have decided that if they cannot distribute the game on Steam, it would be very difficult from a commercial point of view and the series will conclude with the second game, Lost Judgment,” the report said.
Lost Judgment will arrive on PS4, PS5, Xbox, and Xbox Series X / S, with no PC version confirmed. The original Judgment was released on PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X / S, and Stadia, leaving the port for PC.
