Lies of P, the soulslike of Neowiz and Round8 Studio coming out on PS5, Xbox Series X / S, and PC in 2023, is back to show itself in a spectacular gameplay video, about six months after the official announcement. The game will tell the story of Pinocchio revisited in a dark fantasy key, with Bloodborne-style gameplay and a setting that is a bit gothic and a bit steampunk.
The gameplay video released by the developers is of the alpha version of the game. It shows Pinocchio making his way through crazed automata to reunite with Geppetto, to find the key to finally defeating the machines and a way to become human. Despite the somewhat rough animations, the glance is truly exceptional, with scenarios reminiscent of Bloodborne, BioShock, and even Dishonored, a visceral combat system, and many types of enemies.
The Korean developers of Round8 Studio have been working on Lies of P for several years and have recently confirmed that the game will not be released before 2023. The potential is certainly present, and the choice to publish the game exclusively on PC and next-gen underlines the firm’s great ambition, which has no intention of compromising.
